Best Free Video Editing Software For Beginners
Our recommendations have a few common factors. First, all of them support 4K video editing which is an essential right now. Second, they have all the important features that you can use to make youtube videos to semi-pro commercial movies. So, these are the free video editing software that we’ll recommend,
Davinci Resolve
We have to give the top spot on this list to Davinci Resolve. It is a super advanced professional grade video editor. You can make some amazing edits on this one. It has support for almost all types of video formats, it has a full-fledged timeline with all the editing features, professional color grading tools, a separate section for audio, a Fusic section to create motion graphics & much more. All of this comes absolutely free. There is a Studio version available that is used in movies & it costs money. But, unless you’re an industry professional, you’ll be fine with the free version. It supports both Windows & macOS and it is one of the only non-Apple video editors, that is extremely well optimized with macOS.
iMovie
If you have an Apple PC, you can use the Apple iMovie for Video Editing. It comes free of cost & it actually pretty advanced as well. However, Davinci Resolve is actually way more advanced than this one but, if you’re doing basic video editing or just starting off your editing career, you can get a lot of work done with iMovie. It has all the basic timeline features you need, transitions & a lot more. As it’s an Apple software, you cannot use it on a Windows computer. However, you can get iMovie for iOS which means that you can even use it on your iPad or iPhone.
Hitfilm Express
Hitfilm Express is another free Video Editing Software that has some VFX tools built in as well. However, from a pure video editing perspective, it’s pretty good actually. Again it’s not as advanced as the Davinci Resolve but, it kinda does a lot. It also has a proper timeline with all the important features & as mentioned earlier in the article, it can also edit 4K resolution video so, that’s not an issue. Now, if you’re just starting out, you probably won’t need the VFX tools but, if you’re interested, you can try that too. Hitfilm Express supports both Windows & macOS.
That’s it. We kept the list short & simple so, things don’t get too much complicated for you. If you have any questions, feel free to ask them in the comments section below.
